Background of the Study
Workplace diversity refers to the presence of employees from various backgrounds, including differences in race, gender, age, ethnicity, and cultural identity. Access Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, recognizes the importance of workplace diversity in driving innovation and improving performance. The bank has implemented various diversity and inclusion initiatives to create an environment where employees from diverse backgrounds can collaborate and contribute to the organization’s success.
This study seeks to explore the impact of workplace diversity on team performance at Access Bank Plc in Adamawa State. It will assess how diversity within teams affects communication, problem-solving, and overall team dynamics. By examining this relationship, the study aims to highlight the benefits and challenges of workplace diversity and provide recommendations for improving team performance in diverse work environments.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of workplace diversity, there is limited research on how diversity specifically impacts team performance in Nigerian organizations, particularly in the banking sector. Access Bank has taken steps to promote diversity, but the effects of these efforts on team performance at the local level in Adamawa State remain understudied. This research will address this gap by investigating how workplace diversity influences team performance at Access Bank Plc.

Research Hypotheses

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on the impact of workplace diversity on team performance at Access Bank Plc in Adamawa State. The research will be limited to team dynamics within the bank’s branches in the state and may not be applicable to other regions or industries. Limitations include potential biases in employee perceptions of diversity and the difficulty in measuring the direct impact of diversity on performance.
